I have been doing some reading about the Cossacks (early 1900s) in the Don region.

Who exactly are the Cossacks?
Do they still exist?
Is it an ethnic group or social group?
Can you tell a Cossack by their last name?
I have also heard that Cossacks were refered to as "White Russian"?
