In addition to the new Penguin Russian Course, I'm also using Oxford's Taking Off in Russian book and CD set. Has anyone used this before? It seems pretty solid from the little I've worked with it. Any opinions?

Well, now that I've looked through it some, it does seem rather tourist-y, but maybe it'll be good for vocabulary? I do like the CDs though - can listen to real Russian - my only chance to!
Apparently nobody has heard about this Taking Off in Russian book. :(Quote:

Silly me, I do have Taty's first album - I've been practicing reading the lyrics in cyrillic along to the songs to get used to reading. I can tell it's helping.
This site is useful. It's the UN radio broadcasts in Russian. Click on "Послушайте новости" (Listen to the News) to hear somebody reading the news that's below. It doesn't start right away. Theres a short intro before the news starts, so it won't match until then.
Very interesting......but she do talk fast, don't she?
