Do any of you have experience of reading Russian books on palmtops (I don't mean on the top of trees, but those gimmicky gadget things. Is it comfortable reading a book on these things?

What's your problem with borrowing or buying a normal book?

Nay, mats jar tripes
Jasper is my Tartan
I am a trans-Jert spy
Jerpty Samaritans
Pijams are tyrants
Jana Sperm Tit Arsy
Greediness - there are hundreds of books available on the net. Unless you have ready access to a biiig Russian bookshop/library in the Netherlands, it sounds like an attractive option to me. It beats struggling on and off trains with a rucksack filled with heavy books.
I have absolutely no problem with regular books - and I do think it isn't such fun to read from an electronic appliance - and that is why I am asking what other форумчане think ...
By palmtop do you mean a handheld computer (like Palm Pilot) or one of those devices specifically meant for e-Book reading (aka the 8-track player of the 21st century)?
I don't understand 20 century gimmickery let alone 21st century stuff- are these things expensive and do they work?

Ok, i found some software at Palms site. It will cost $31 if you want it, but you can still download the 30 day trial. Its pretty good, all my icons are in Russian now. I can write in Russian, still having a few difficulties in reading Russian Word documents. I will figure it out. Let me know if you are still interested i will send you the link.

I wonder if one could download this kind of stuff: http://lib.ru/
I think I will read the Russian paper books I have first, before I start splashing out money. Thanks Piehunt!
I've bought Palm-130 this spring because my old notebook was broken once and for all and I needed to type texts "away from keyboard". Well..., nevertheless I have never worked on Palm from then on, but I've read a lot of downloaded texts. It's reaaly great! You needn't search for special "e-books", cause they "suck" (AFAIK). You just download a special program (They are SO LITTLE comparing with "adult PC" progs), download a text and download it from PC to Palm. Russian language is also supported (there are free programs for that besides official paid ones). Only the standart text is either too little or too big but you may install a special handy font, "verdana" for example. There are a lot of free readers also besides this "e-book reader", they allow you even to rotate a text. I also play "GO 9X9" game wherever I go.
You can find A LOT of programs here:

cheers for the link, propp.
