    ten most popular female names

    здравствулте!
I hope someone can help. I would like to know what are the ten most popular female names in Russia (today).
There is “Russian Names For Girls” article on this site with Tatyana and Natalya but there is no Tatiana and Natalia. What is the difference.
Google find much more results (on Russian sites) for Tatiana and Natalia so why these names are not on this list.

Because the Chinese have compromised Google, and it now only gives the results Beijing wants. Thus, the variants you listed.

Actually, to be serious, it's the same difference. Transliteration is not an exact science, so there's some variance. Thus in one system я=ya and in another я=ia. No biggie.
Заранее благодарю всех за исправление ошибок в моём русском.

I would have thought Katya also... And Yulia, but only because 3 out of the around 10 Russian women I know are named either Yulia or Katya...

I need to get out more

I assume that popular means popular names for naming kids, but they change every year. Hear are most widespread female names.

Анна, Екатерина (Катя) - Ekaterina (Katya), Елена, Ирина, Мария, Наталья, Ольга, Татьяна, Юлия (Юля) - Juliya (Julya) , Анастасия (Настя) - Anastasiya (Nastya).

It depends on in which language they are thinking phonetically.

In English the most common way is Tatyana.
North European (germanic) it is more Tatjana
    Tatiana... I don't know... spanish?

They are all pronounced the same way. If you are English, use Tatyana, that is your safest bet.

But how is it possible that google finds 17M results for Tatiana and only 4M for Tatyana. Or 1,2M for Tatiana and 0,3M for Tatyana if you are looking at russian sites only.

you have to ask yourself: WHY DO I CARE?

Both names are the SAME, there is NO DIFFERENCE. If you think Tatiana is the better one, FINE use it to your hearts content!

Because Google is a just a search engine -- it's fundamentally stupid -- so it bases its results on the writing of even stupider humans. Seriously, Kalinka, is right, even if he is a girl

Think about it: is there any difference in calling you "101" or "One hundred and one." No. Heck, we could even live on the wild side and call you "One-Oh-One". We could call you "Binary Bob" for that matter. Or Clyde. Whatever. Nothing to see here, move along.
