i know there is a russian name antonina, and my name is antonia - is this also russian?

I would say the name is russified, the original name is obviously anton or anthony, which comes from a roman family (example: roman general Mark Anthony (marcus anthonius)). Anthos means flower in roman.
This name - Antonina (also the male Anton) is popular in Russia. The diminutive is Tonya.
Gerty, she said her name was Antonia, not Antonina.
Anthos (άνθος) means flower in Greek not Latin. I don't know if it is the same in Latin they have taken a lot of words for us.Quote:
