    Glinka

    My maiden name was Glinka my Aunty has traced out family tree back to a young lad called Vladislof who sneaked over on a boat many many years ago and that is where the trail ends, any ideas on how we delve a bit deeper?

    Well its definately slavic... that's a start.

    Глинка (Glinka) was the name of russian composer of the XIX century - Mikhail Glinka

    The name derives from the word глина - clay.

    And the name of the guy who sneaked is Vladislav (Владислав) = Владеющий славой (wielding the glory or fame)
