Thread: Popernack

I was wondering if anyone knows if the last name Popernack is of russian origin. i was told by my family the name was pronounced poyornik (like Попёрник) my family is from poland, but I thought those names all ended in ski or ska. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The last name Попёрник sounds like Russian or it may belong to other Slavish nations. Polish last names don't necessarily end in -ski, so it can be Polish too

Попёрник - вряд ли. А вот фамилия Поперник (Popiernik) действительно встречается в Польше (возможно, что и в России, и на Украине). А в Москве есть улица Паперника.
