Suggestions on Travel Destinations & What To See While T

I've lived in Moscow the last seven months and I'm starting to get a bit bored, hence I'm ready to travel again. I'm simply asking for suggestions on other places to visit.

I can't go too far East due to time/money constraints and the fact that I should really be in school instead of traveling (but come on, I'm going to make the best of my time here).

Follows is a list of destinations I plan to hit, please suggest others:

Leningrad (of course, but when, I don't know)
Ekaterinburg (I have to go there to write a piece I was hired for)
    Kazan
    Nizhny Novgorod
    Tver
Voronezh (any reason to go there?)
    Volgograd
    Rostov-na-Donu

I'm also planning to visit Minsk (although being an American, perhaps a visa problem?) and Ukraine (Nikolaev, Kiev, Crimean cities). A visit to Baku and Bishkek is also in the works if I can get visas in time and without too much expense.

Suggestions, please, and what is there to see in some of these cities?

Why have you go to Tver? It's a common city. The only thing which makes that city famous is its son - Afanasi Nikitin - Russian Marco Polo.

You simply have to see Суздаль (Suzdal)! the city is famous by its antiquities and it has a very beautiful scenery!

Go in Кижи (Kizhi) I bet you will never see anything like its churches - immense, mountain-like, made of wood, many-headed, they all belong mostly to seventh century and as it is said were built without any iron nail. They are set upon the river and dominate the austerity of local landscapes.

Go and see the beauty of Russian North - of Great Novgorod - Великий Новгород - some of his churches are almost 1000 years old! The nature is very picturesque.

Saint Petersbourg (Leningrad) has more than any city in Russia! The city is unique and was built for sol idea - the center makes the one whole anssamble wherever yo umight go. Go at Петергоф (Petergof) - a kind of Versal with impose palaces, formal gardens and fountains of great beauty. You will find there the fully restored Amber Room - the chamber inlaid of carved amber of many sorts and mirrors - it's imcomparable. Pavlovsk (Павловск) has a truly wonderful English parks with many great buildings. Tsarskoe Selo - Catherine's the Great favourite place - such a miracle.

In the city of Peterbourg you must attend the Ermitage - the museum containing one of the world richest collections of art and antiquities including all famous names of artists which ever came onto your mnd - Leonardo, Raphael and all their team.

Russian museum - the best place to enjoy the Russian art.
    Я так думаю.

Thanks for the response, Leof! I forgot to list Vladimir and Suzdal, but I will be visiting them as well.

My Russian is not great, but most Russians say it's ok for having lived here "only" seven months so I think I will be able to get around on my own without too much trouble.

I hope to bring a friend on some of these "adventures," though, if not all of them.

    Ешё раз спасибо, Леоф!

"Fascist city?" Yikes. That sounds a lot worse than even "Sin City!"

Oh, and I regret to inform you that "Leningrad" no longer exists. It's been called Санкт-Петербург for about 15 years now...
Заранее благодарю всех за исправление ошибок в моём русском.

У меня есть друзья в Киеве. Если захочешь, они тебя поводят по городу.
