Hi,

I am new to the board and to the Russian language. Learning to be able to converse with friends in their native language. Plus, I enjoy languages and having access to native speakers has motivated me to work towards learning.

Just starting to read and write the script and also have Pimsleur's Russian I which I have just started listening to (given to me by a friend who started some years ago and quickly lost interest!). Intend on having a good grasp of reading and writing before I really dive into grammar.

I've read through some posts and have seen some recommend The New Penguin Russian Course as a companion to the Pimsleur materials. What are some others? I am using Daphne West's Beginner's Russian Script and have wondered about the Teach Yourself Russian Book and CD package by the same author.
