Hi all,

I'm new here, just thought I'd introduce myself.

I've been thinking for ages about indulging myself in Russian, and I've finally decided to do it...

What's so scary, Biancca? Russian is not that difficult - Chinese is.

We normally pronounce the way we write and much less ambiguity.

English:
get:

(to become) - get dark
(to receive) - get a present (from someone)
(to acquire) - get a dog (to buy)
(to reach a destination) - get home
(to understand) - I don't get it!
etc.

Russian words are longer but they are harder to mix with something else.

Russian Grammar may be difficult but you need to read more, not knowing, which case to use will not prevent you from understanding. Russians have trouble when learning all these verb tenses in English or spelling rules.

What's so scary, Biancca? Russian is not that difficult - Chinese is.

No, what's scary are those frequent trips to Russia that will occur after you fall in love with the language, and then you fall in love with Russia.


Good luck to you oddball. This is a good place to start. And we've all (non-natives) been in your situation.

Which part causes problems? I won't go into explanations you probably read it in your textbook.

делать (несовершенный вид)
я делал; я делаю; я буду делать
I did/I was doing; I do/I am doing; I will do/I will be doing


сделать (совершенный вид)

я сделал; я сделаю
I did/I have done; I will do, I will have done
(personal forms with Present endings always indicate future complete actions). Я прочитаю means not only "I will read" but I will read it to the end, whereas Я буду читать means I will read/will be reading (I promise I will start reading)
