    Beginner Lessons...

I've been typing up some lessons in Russian from the book I'm using and have put them here:

    http://quickandsimplerussian.blog-city.com/

It's both for me, to help me learn, and for others to learn from...hopefully it will help someone else as well...

Starts from the very beginning...if anything it's something to read and practice with...hope someone else finds it useful...

    Enjoy.

    Thanks

Thanks, I'm going to try to post 1-2 lessons a day. I've found that this book is really pretty good, because it introduces a grammar concept and lets you get used to it, before you have to see some chart with noun declenasions for every single gender/number...which tend to be scary I know it scared me the first time I saw it...which would've been something like page 10 in this other book that I have...

My idea is concurrent with this book in that it's easier to remember one or two endings at a time and then use them, instead of trying to remember every ending at one time...and then be expected to use every single ending two seconds later...

If anyone needs the answers to the exercises, just post a reply or leave a comment, here or there...

    Edited to add:
I've been playing around with the layout of the page, and figured out I could simply link to the lesson with a description on the home page instead of just having oodles of text on the home page. Now things look much better...

    It's a thoughtful idea! Great!
I have a question though about a background color. Is't it too dark? I have hard time reading the text.

I'll see what I can do...maybe change the text color to stand out more...

    Edited to add...

The links do not work for me.

Hmm, I guess blog-city is just having some problems...hopefully they'll put the site back up...if not ... I'm glad I said everything on my computer...

    But this should work:

    http://www.quickandsimplerussian.0nyx.com/

Audio is nearly finished being uploaded for Lessons 1a-d and Practice should take about 5 minutes...

I like it. I could do without so much backgroung noise though. Is it possible to see the text in cyrillic aswell as English?

Please, keep the good work up!!!

There shouldn't be too much background noise after lessons 1a and 1b. See what you think of the audio on lessons 1c, 1d, and the practice. If there's still a problem I'll see what I can do to clean it up sometime.

The text should be in cyrillic followed by the english translation...

For example, lesson one's text should appear like this:

    Misha: Good day!
    Ira: Hello!
Misha: Say, please, where is the fifth place/seat? In this compartment?
    Ira: Yes, it's here.
Misha: There and wonderful. Well we will be neighbors. Let
me introduce myself: My name's Misha! And what's your name?
Ira: Nice to meet you. My name's Ira.
Misha: Where are you going? Are you also going to Novgorod?
Ira: No. I'm going to Syzdal'.
    Misha: Do you there live?
Ira: No, I study in Peterburgje (St. Petersburg) and I'm going to my family.
Misha: And I'm going on a business trip to Novgorod.

    Здравствуйте! - Hello!
    Доброе утро! - Good morning!
Добрый день! - Good day! (Hello)
    Добрый вечер! - Good evening!
    Привет! - Hi!
    До свидания! - Good-bye!
Всего хорошего! - All the best!
    Спокойной ночи! - Good night!
До завтра! - See you tomorrow! (Until tomorrow)
    Пока! - Bye!

"купе" is "a compartment" if you talk about a train.

I think that this is great stuff! I can hear the dialog better in the next few lessons. I think that the problem was the sound over modulating in lesson one and not that the background was too loud as I originally thought.

I don’t mean to be picky but there may be a couple of minor errors in Lesson 1D

Миша: Расскажите о своиз родителях....... cвоих ?
    Misha: Tell about your parents.

    Миша: Я запишу ваш адрес.
Misha.: I will write down his address .... your ?

Yeah, thanks you guys for pointing out the errors, I've been doing all of this pretty quickly, while I try to look for errors, so do make it through (probably a lot make it through)...

Usually if it's a spelling error it's because of the way I type, I have russian set up mapped out to the english letters but sometimes that gets my brain confused. Like since Russian "R" looks like english "P" sometimes I'll press p instead of r...and...that's how we get interesting things like: "Пазрешите представиться" ...haha Other common spelling errors you may see: "ц" for "с" , "х" for "ж" ....

    If it's a translation error...that's just me being...absent-minded

I'll be sure to make the changes

Just some stuff taken from a couple of books i found here in China...

And yeah, the two topics kinda got intertwined...although they were meant to be separate as in one topic was about the site that only had texts on it from one book, and the other topic was supposed to be for the site that had texts and audio from another book...

So I started with the best of intentions
