Hey guys! I just had a few random questions.

Can you say I'm going to eat? Or can you only say I will be eating, and I will eat?

Is there a verb that means to work, like "Everything will work out alright" or would работать just be used?

How would you say There were, or There was?

I saw somewhere that you can say I was working, and I worked in Russian? I thought there was only one past tense?

How do you say It was?

Does Russian use "that" alot, like the car that I bought, or do they try to omit it?

Is there a thing in Russian like -ing, going, talking, seeing, and if so, how?

Is there a difference between present conditional, I would go, and past conditional, I would have gone?

How do you say something like "He looks smart, dumb etc...?"

When you have like Я хочу and put five things after that, would they all take the accusative?

Does Russian have who and that, like qui and que in french? The man who carries the book, or The book that he's carrying?

Are there changes for plural in the Accusative case, and if so how many?

When you want to say "with someone..." what case do you use after with?

When you want to say " in her arms..." what case do you use after in?

How do you say the what in " He does what he wants" ?

Does Russian have different verbs for to take, like He's taking me there, or I'm taking this test?

One final question!! Does Russian have the words "the one, these ones" This is the one I want or I like these ones?

7) Of course. Just use the past tense of the verb to get the past tense conditional

10) Yes. Its the word который.
11) Yes. Animate plural is different.

15) Yes. Russian likes to have different words to reflect every bit of color in words.

Here is in answer to your question on the Conditional. It is out of my textbook.


Conditional Mood.

Если бы я жил в России, я бы говорил по русски.
If I lived in Russia, I would speak Russian.

The equivalent of “would” In Russian is a particle бы, which suggests a hypothesis or something contrary to fact or something that you would like to happen. Бы has no meaning on its own and is never used with other words; it cannot occur first in the sentence or clause. It adds meaning of hypothesis, doubt or wish to the verb with which it is used. So, он был means “he was” while он был бы means “he would be” or “he would have been”.

Three points to note:

A) There is a бы in each clause.
B) The verbs are always past tense
C) It is normal to put one бы after если (if) and one бы before or after the verb in the other clause.

To convert the sentence “If I am (=shall be) in Moscow, I’ll telephone him.” Into:

“If I had been in Moscow, I would have telephoned him.” Add two бы’s and make the verbs past tense:

Если я буду в Москве, я ему позвоню. ( If I’m in Moscow, I’ll phone him.)

Если бы я был в Москве, я бы ему позвонил. ( If I’d been in Moscow, I would have phoned him.)

Since Russian has only one past tense, this sentence could also be translated, “ If I was in Moscow I would phone him.”
The бы could also stand after the verb: Я позвонил бы ему.
As in English the conditional can be used for polite requests. “I would like” is Я хотил бы. ( I would want or I wanted would )
Я хотил бы поехать в Москву. (I would like to go to Moscow.)

The verb "съесть" requires the direct object.

IMHO: "I will be eating" does not sound complete. There needs to be something else happening.

I will be eating when the she gets back.
I will be eating before they sit down.
I will be eating while something else is going on.

Come on, it implies "их" : Я [их] съем. It's valid only because you stated what you will eat in the previous sentence. Just "I will eat" without any context is not equal to "Я съем". And, btw, "Я доем" would be more appropriate in your example.

Well. You said "съем" needs an object. I gave you the example without it. It doesn't matter whether it's implied or not. The verb could be used without an object in some context. If you look carefully at my post, you'll see that I said "It depends on context".

Just "I will eat" without any context is not equal to "Я съем".

Without any context you can't give a proper translation.

And, btw, "Я доем" would be more appropriate in your example. :)

Don't mix them up "я доем торт" and "я съем последние 2 куска". Remember? The question was about 2 pieces.
