alphabet???
i'm in quite a predicament here. i see two seperate types of writing here, that would be "Продукты" and "Бакалея". which is correct? they both spell "groceries", by the way, if i'm not mistaken. if both are correct, why are there two seperate looking alphabets? if only one is correct, then why is the other in existance? i fear that i will never get any farther in this language without the answer to this particlar problem. i would greatly appreciate any and all help in this matter.

Продукты is produce. Бакалея is dry goods.

There are two "alphabets" because one of them is print and one is in cursive. Just like in english. Although Russians handwrite exclusively in cursive, from what I've heard. But I'm pretty sure you'd be able to progress further without knowing that

lol, welcome to the world of russian has 10,000 words just because today is tuesday and we feel like making a difrence between hard rubber and soft rubber. to sum it up, pointless words.

English has a lot of those actually, but we're not really aware of them...until you try writing a formal paper for AP english :)
just for fun, guess this word:
ВОДОНЕПРОНИЦАЕМЫЙ
