Some regrouping on the forum
As part of improving the forum structure, I've created a separate category for Slavic languages. You will be able to see it from the homepage. More Slavic languages may be added later but right now it only includes Slavic languages that existed on the forum.
I also plan to split the large "LEARN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE" category into two smaller categories:
1. where foreigners actually learn Russian, such as Grammar, Vocabulary, Getting Started, Questions, etc.
2. resources for learning Russian, such as Books, Videos, Dictionaries, Translations, etc.
I may create a category for Off-topic and other chit-chat if needed.
I plan to create a separate category for Russians learning English. There will be only one forum now "English for Russians" but I can add more if they will be needed.
Your comments and suggestions are welcome.
Re: Some regrouping on the forum
Re: Some regrouping on the forum
Re: Some regrouping on the forum
Serbian... :unknown:

Re: Some regrouping on the forum
Previously, I believe that the grouping on the forum Грамматика, переводы и словарный запас was written in English. Is this going to go back to English or are you nudging me to learn Russian or is this your polite way of trying to tell me to stop responding to questions and only post? :unknown:
Re: Some regrouping on the forum
It's because we have quite a few Russians on the forum, and this section was made for Russians learning English as a second language. It was called "English for Russians" before. Everybody can post questions about ESL there. And everybody who's in the know is welcome to answer them.
Re: Some regrouping on the forum
I am afraid, too, that some native English speakers would never even open a section with the name "Smth in Cyrillic" and with the subname "Ответы на вопросы по английской грамматике и помощь в переводах. Предпочтительно спрашивать на английском, чтобы иностранцы могли вас понять, но допускается использование русского" (smth very very long in Cyrillic).
Earlier, many of them did not visit that section quite often. Now, they can just never open it.
We Russians can perfectly understand all those titles written in English. More so because if we ask about English, we learn it and know it more or less. But if there is a native who could help me and answer my question, it doesn't mean s/he needs to know Russian at all. He/she only needs to know English.
Re: Some regrouping on the forum
When you browse new messages they are being taken from all forums. So the foreigners should be able to see them too. And if the message is in English (as recommended) then the foreigner will be able to understand and help.
Re: Some regrouping on the forum
Dear Master Admin...
As I have been since coming on this site... I will be way too honest here and let you (and the rest of the group know) that I almost did not open your posting yesterday because I saw it was in a "Russian" area. But as you had put your title in English and it looked interesting, ...I was brave!
Maybe others are younger, bolder & wiser than I am and know Russian and will take chances; however, here I was yesterday, someone who has been on your site a little while and I was going to skip right over it just as Olya predicted.
If I may, I would suggest a dual language on the description (is that possible)? That would make it clear to all and solve both issues.

I am not sure all the members read it in this way. There might be people who read only some of the subforums and don't use "View new posts" at all. I used to do so.
Re: Some regrouping on the forum
I never use "View new posts".
And I would never open a forum with a title in, say, Japanese. Even if it had threads in Russian inside.

:unknown:
Re: Some regrouping on the forum
