I feel it is a trademark violation, as Master Russian is the name people call me when I don a cape and top hat and walk through the streets of Moscow, tossing candies to the children and blowing fair ladies kisses from the wayside.
Haha well I think Master Russian is an alright name. It seems to describe the purpose of the website. However, I feel the website should offer more tutorials and tests so that people can learn and practice Russian skills more. Its hard to find many good websites like Master Russian that teach Russian well. People like me who don't have any Russian friends or attend Russian classes can find it quite hard to learn a lot of Russian grammar. Perhaps you could have some little kindergarten or first grade Russian books online to read.

Bacon and Eggs. A day's work for the chicken and... a lifetime's investment for the pig.
I think "Mastering Russian" would be closer to idiomatic English than "Master Russian", it just feels more natural to say. The former is completely unambiguous, whereas the latter can be read as a persons name (or a superhero, as Mike pointed out ), or as an order ("Finish your dinner! Clean your room! Master Russian!).
Pretty subtle difference, granted
Yes, but masteringrussian.com sounds so passive. I don't mind the imperative, but I think the word Master puts too much pressure on people to succeed. Maybe there should be a site called do-sort-of-ok-at-russian.com where they can learn at a more half-assed level of intensity.
what about russianexcellence.com
"Нельзя запретить человеку сделать себе большую куклу из воска и целовать её."
Actually, you can come up with a lot of domain names like russianexcellence.com, russianperfection.com, etc, and they won't be taken soon, because nobody needs them...
As for Master Russian, there's a word play indeed. With a bit of fantasy you even call it Russian Master

Now I know what you mean, after I found the following sentence in a book:Originally Posted by mike

Sounds like my daughter. Shes a master shopper all right, she always choses the best things, which also happen to be the most expensive.

Seams like it some times.
At least tatu are raising the profile of Russian, and reminding people that it still exists.
Just a pitty it had to be them that did it.
Besides, I'm not sure why, just because of a song or two, that some one would want to learn a whole language, and after the tatu thing is a faded memory, will these people still be commited to learning Russian?
I really liked shakira before she was popular, but I certinly didn't want to go out and learn Spanish.
Hmm

Well, what's odd is that they are popular in America. Usually Americans are very hesitant to embrace people who sing popular music in foreign languages.
Same here in Australia. Whats even more funny though, is that I was listening to Shakira and tatu well before they where popular, and everyone else though that they where junk, untill it became popular.
Are people really that shallow that they have to be told what music to like and when to like it?

I don't know how it is in the US, but here they've only become famous after they started singing in English. And songs in Russian are never played, only the English "All The Things She Said".Originally Posted by mike
You're right. I completely forgot they rewrote the songs. Well, not them, but whomever.
Moreover, even if people probably know the girls are Russian (the guys in the radios seem to love the emphasize that), I'd say very few people know they started singing in Russian...
How about this for a name LearnRussky15_min_a-day.com?
