How does the site work

Can you tell me, please, what does the small yellow rectangle bearing the words "Auto-Saved" and flashing in the right bottom corner of a post mean? In which case does it flash up?

It auto-saves what you are typing once every few seconds. If you abandon the page and then return you'll see the message you were typing. So your draft won't be lost.
