    Hmm..

    I see to my confusion that my last thread about a possible off-topic forum has been removed. Are suggestions of off-topic considered off-topic? It would attract more users, traffic, and posts to the site, and you might see a reduction in off-topic posts elsewhere.

    My second point is that there should be a Kazakh language forum. Really.

    Oh wait, is it the stupid titles of my posts that get them removed?

    I guess we will see after this one.

    1. I've always found OT forums to be somewhat pointless; that's just me. I think there's plenty of room for semi-OT stuff to be posted in the "General" forum.

    2. Kazakh would be cool, but I doubt it warrants its own forum. You did see the "all other languages" forum, right? I asked for Georgian at one point -- and I think that the "all other" category that was created some point afterwards was a pretty sensible compromise. Really, AFAIC, they should roll a few of the existing language forums into "other." BCS, Ukrainian, etc. I would suggest keeping in place, but I personally see no reason for their to be Chinese, Arabic, or Dutch lounges.

    well really, there's no advantage to grouping together sections other than saving a few pixels of scrolling on ur screen, since people get very little gain from reading about a language they're not interested in or writing to people that aren't interested

    A few pixels? You'd have to add at least 30 other languages that all "have their right to be here". I mean seriously, how many posts are you going to do in Kazakh? Or Georgian? The Ukrainian lounge has only 67 topics and it has been there for at least 2 years ago (which is when I joined). In internet time, that is a whole ice age!

    Ding-ding-ding! We have a winner...Don't get me wrong; I think the Ukrainian lounge is all fine and good, but even as both a related language and one of the more popular one languages here it's hardly bursting at the seams with content. On another note, I'm sure masterkazakh.net is available for sale if you find it to be something you're truly passionate about.

    There is no off-topic forum on MasterRussian.net. Everything is to the point. The point is to master Russian Do we need one?

    Kazhakh is covered by "Other languages" forum. I never saw you posting there about Kazakh. Let's see if you have an intent

    Сколько носителей казахского языка посетило этот форум с тех пор, как он был начат? Скорее всего, ни одного!

    Форум для общего общения уже практически представляет собой форум для сообщений, которые не по теме. Каковы сообщения ты бы оставлял в таком форуме?

    "Для общего общения" sounds very bad.

    Кстати, новое название, точнее казахское название, не склоняется, так что V прав (я много раз видел, как так писали в сми, особенно в ельцинское время). Но, имхо, какое нам дело до того, что Казахстан принял там какой-то закон, что теперь в русском языке Алма-Ата пишется как Алматы??! Представьте, если наша Дума примет закон, что с такого-то числа Москва произносится, допустим, в английском языке как "масква", а не как "москоу"! Весь мир только бы посмеялся над этим! Почему же мы должны прислушиваться к решениям другого государства, в котором русский язык даже не является государственным языком, как нам говорить на нашем родном языке??! Я говорил и говорю (и, конечно же, пишу):
    НА Украине
    Белоруссия
    Киргизия
    Алма-Ата
    и.т.д.
    Please, correct my mistakes, except for the cases I misspell something on purpose!
