Thread: Could we have a poll about the member list

I just took a look at the member list and about 85% of the members have had 0 or only 1 post since they joined. Couldn't we delete any members who are no longer interested in our group? That would make it easier for us "serious" students to contact fellow learners. Please reply. Voice an opinion, after all, it is our group.

I am still cleaning the database. All the users with zero messages registered before April 1, 2003 are being deleted. For now, you can simply consider such users inactive.

Most of these users register to ask one or two questions, then when it's answered they never come back. I take this as a personal offense.

We should boycot them and never answer the first question someone gives.

i guess this has aready been halfway taken care of, but if somone's first post is about taty, insta ban, screw them and their questions, they can take it somwhere else, i remember arguing on AIM once with a girl who would refuse to believe that я сошла с ума !doesn't mean! "all the things she said" and thought that taty would sell more records in russia if they just spoke english from now on because Quote"more people like it anyways"unQuote

Maybe an area where people can post that dosnt require restistration.

I don't know about adding more things to the front page though, it's getting longer and longer, and I'm a great belieaver in keeping things simple.

I think guests can post in the General Discussion forum..and this forum, for obvious reasons. Sometimes I've accidentally posted as a guest because I forgot to login.

Are you also going to delete the users with 0 posts who signed up after April 2003? I still haven't noticed any change in the member list.

Why dont you start your own forum, then you can run it how you like.

Sure I will. But that's not a priority. Don't expect it happen tomorrow.

As an experiment, I took care of that and made forums open for all guests. Expect a lot of one-time questions, guys :))


P.S. If you are a registered user and want to post some 'bad stuff' anonymously as a guest then this won't work. I can easily check it by IP.

A better solution would be to have all accounts time out after a certain period, like 90 days. Even under this solution people who registered in April would be immune until July. It just gives them fair time to post something in case they are always busy or on vacation or something.

I don't want to be a whiny beyatch, but this whole "guest" thing is starting to annoy me a little. It doesn't seem like people are abusing it, but it's just nice to know who you're talking to, you know?

I'll keep it for a while. If there will be only stupid questions then I'll turn it off. In any case, I moderate the forum and read what guests are saying.
