    Speaking English in France

I wasn't certain if I should put this one here or under learning English...

I have only been to France once and I felt exactly the same way as this poor woman!!!

Three ways to watch in the event the YouTube does not work:

This one you have to download in order to watch

I only speak two languages, English and bad English.

I am sure you've selected the right forum for it.
I watched this video years ago, but it is still funny . Both funny and sad, actually.

    Re: Speaking English in France

One of my colleagues has been in France few years ago and told the following story. He and his friend from Russia came to a bar and tried to communicate several persons there in English. But noone there was speaking English until my colleague told something to his friend in Russian. Suddenly everybody became very friendly and English-speaking so all linguistic problems disappeared.

So Russian seems to be a good addition to English as a way of international communication. (At least in not so deep France as in the movie.) Learn Russian!
"Россия для русских" - это неправильно. Остальные-то чем лучше?

It just reminded me of this:
It was 11 a.m. and a new fighter plane had been missing from a US training field since 5 a.m. The telegrams were already prepared to be send to the next kin informing them of the accident when the phone rang in the colonel's office.
"Colonel", came a familiar voice, "we got lost... I think we flew over Atlantic... and landed in France. Nobody here speaks English. They all speak French."
The colonel barked an order and the call was traced. The missing plane had landed somewhere near Quebec, Canada.

I was still reading the board though.

it-ogo, what you are calling "deep France" may very well be 30 minutes far from Paris, "gypsies forbidden" sign included.
