As much as I don't like Hitler, I think that joke is not polite towards our German forum members. Also, I think it's especially not smart for a UK online magazine to post that joke, since it's mainly due to the outcome of the WWI and the reparations to the UK and France that Hitler became so popular in Germany. Had the UK and France been just a bit less greedy, Germany would have developed to its today's state back then and none of the devastating nightmares of the WWII would have happened.

Personally I don't think it's offensive (and why should it be? people don't have the right to mention Hitler? They do).But I would not go as far as calling it a joke. It's too far stretched to be funny. ))
