The stress on the word полтора is on "a", nevertheless the first unstressed "o" is pronounced as "o" and not as "a".
Does it play any role the fact that the word is composed etymologically from two words?

Чем больше слов, тем меньше они стоят.
Ответа на твой вопрос не знаю, но нашла для тебя полтора. Извиняюсь за маты.

In fact, you can pronounce it as [палтарА], that's absolutely correct. I pronounce the first vowel like something middle between "о" and "а". Also, this sound is shorter than the others, you should "swallow" it.
Я слышу у себя что-то мимолётное и среднее между а и ы.

плтара (first о may disappear, or hardly pronounced, similar to o in Brighton)
It is important to pronounce properly the stressed sound, if it isn't stressed - so it is not so significant how clear to pronounce it and mostly depends on your dialect, mood, etc. So in this example:
палта'ра
плта'ра
полта'ра - this one is also suitable, but often it is between "а" and "o".
Paul "something middle between "о" and "а" -- inbetween is what you were looking for.

Спасибо! Сам сомневался, как писать - через дефис, слитно или раздельно.
У меня была дискуссия однажды с канадцем по поводу разницы между этими словами (between vs in between).
Думаю, in between лучше подходит. Конечно, это только моё мнение.

Кто вам сказал такую чушь? Плюньте ему в глаза, он вам не друг! (шутка)The stress on the word полтора is on "a", nevertheless the first unstressed "o" is pronounced as "o" and not as "a".
The words: "сердцебиение" and "долгосрочно" are compound words (they are composed of two component words each).
I have the impression that the first "e" is still pronounces as "e" in the word сердцебиение and the first "o" as an "o" in the word долгосрочно.
Question: In compound words the stress of the two component word remains? Or differently does compound words have two stresses?
Чем больше слов, тем меньше они стоят.
Compound words can have two or more stresses. But usually they have only one stress when you can separate master word and slave one; slave (for example: adjective) usually loses its stress.
"д[ə]лгасрочна"
