To say, "how are you doing?"
I am a beginner to Russian. I am working with the New Penguin Book and the Pimsleur tapes, but I am very unsure about my accent. I know it is not near up to snuff, but I am working hard to understand the differences between English and Russian. Anyhow, I am around Lesson 5 (Russian I) on the Pimsleur tapes, and they want me to say "how are you doing." I don't know how this is written as I've never seen it printed before, but it sounds like "kak vuey booshiviyetye." I cannot say anything that sounds even remotely like this last word, and I can't find it in the dictionary because I have no place to start. Could someone explain to me what the proper tongue positions are when pronouncing, or at least type out the Cyrillic for me? It's just completely incomprehensible to me at this point. I could supply a voice file at this point if anyone wanted to know where I was coming from, but I'll say again, I am new to Russian and my pronunciation so far is abysmal.
Which reminds me, actually. There is a native Russian (and a native German who also speaks Russian) exchange student at my school this year. Would it be useful to have him help me out with my pronunciation? We are friendly with one another, and I don't think it would be presumptuous to ask. I just thought I should know.
