Pronunciation in Russian Literature

Hi!

I just finished reading "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" and sometime soon I'm planning on starting "Anna Karenina". I just had a couple questions, because I want to be pronouncing the names right in my head.

The first question I had, on accent placement, was already answered in another post (de-NI-so-vich). However, I'm wondering how, then, to pronounce the name "Denisov". Where does the stress go?

Also, I was wondering where to put the stress in Karenina.

Well... Denisovich is the patronymic formed from Denis, not Denisov.

There is a surname thought, Denisov. I am not sure but I'd guess it was Denisov

The stress is on the second sylable of Karenina.

Yes, actually the Denisov question was sort of unrelated. I had been wondering how to pronounce it while reading War and Peace, but didn't ask anyone. Once I picked up Ivan Denisovich, it reminded me to ask.

One more question, on the War and Peace subject: The surname 'Rostov' - where is the accent? And is that the same pronunciation as the city?
