In Need of Some Help With a Few Pronunciations
(This is my first post, by the way..yay!)
So, I am trying to teach myself Russian because I studying for International or Global Marketing and thought learning another language would really help me with this. (So far I know English fluently and can speak some Spanish and Chomorro) My boyfriend is also Russian/Estonian, so I that what really kick started this.. anyway...
How would I say kogda and seychas (seichas?): Когда and Сейчас
I am mostly having troubles with the 'ей' combination and 'o' in words because different people have told me different things (slightly different, but I am a perfectionist) and my boyfriend isn't being very helpful...I'm sure I'll need a lot more help later on down the line, but thank you for now! x
Re: In Need of Some Help With a Few Pronunciations
They are pronounced [кагдА] and [си(й)чAс].
The first "a" in [кагдА] is not an open "ah" sound, it's closer to a schwa (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwa). But it is definitely not an "o".
"Й" in [си(й)час] is optional. In sloppy speech many people omit it. Do not try to articulate "ей" in "сейчас" clearly. It's not necessary and even can sound unnatural.
PS. Welcome to the forum.
