Well no actually I don't for one minute after reading your posts in various sections believe that you especialy, and other Russians are ignorant as to the truth of what this man is or isn't. I am certainly not here to cast any undue opinion as I don't live in Russia so I cant say he is good or bad.

However and I will be brief this series of Programmes was called "Russian Godfathers" and this was of the series and was about Yuri. I got the general impression that he was trying what he thought was best for Moscow but there was a lasting impression that "Putin" was in charge of everything so much so that from being a candidate for President of Russia he had to strike a deal with "Putin" in order for him to continue running Moscow until the next elections in 2008 part of that deal was the he didn't run against Putin for the next President.

Putin manipulated Yuri by putting one of his own men in to disrupt political opinion and question some of his motives one of them being the strong link between him and his wife's company "intenko" which has the state contract for paint and more recently cement. The programme pointed out that his wife was "missing" for want of a better word when certain prestigious events and suffered "mystery illnesses" one of them being the Moscow fashion show were he attended himself even though is wife is somewhat known for he taste in fashion.

It also took at the struggle of some everyday Moscowvites who were told as part of the rebuilding process taking place in Moscow that there building (which were self contained flats and in most part had been bought over a number of years by the completion of there mortgage) were declared "unsafe" even though there was nothing wrong with them, would be demolished to make way for offices. There was deep resentment towards the Mayor and his plan to demolish perfectly good buildings along with buildings of great historical interest < so much so that the people who lived in these flats decided to take court action even though they knew that it wouldn't get them anywhere as the decision had already been made.

There were other parts of this programme which took a look at his personal life and his estate were he keeps bees. and his outlook on what he hoped to and had achieved as Mayor of Moscow. In conclusion it gave a positive impression of him he was trying to do what he thought was best for Moscow and bring foreign development into Russia but at the same time his hands were always controlled by Putin who incidentally I was given the impression is a ruthless man who will stop at nothing to gain overall control of Russia.

some would say that is politics others would say it is totalanarism.

I just thought id post on here and see what the average "Joe public"
thought of him
