Let me explain Putin's relation to crustaceans
Putin once said: "(...) я пахал как раб на галерах" (a colloquial phrase which means "I've been working like a galley slave").
Some buffoons on the Internet reduced his boasting to absurdity by pretending to misheard "как раб" as "как краб".
Since then Putin's nickname among many Internet users is краб (or крабе to sound funnier), i. e. crab - just for lulz
This absurd joke is so hard to get that the Russian Google is still showing search prompt "почему путин краб" to thousands of users trying to figure out what is so funny about it.
