Yep, we should clean our own backyard before complaining on the neighbor's
Perhaps it's my crummy Russian shining through, but it would appear that the stated reason for the esteemed Mr. Kucheren's proposal is crap.
Инициатива возникла после того, как известная международная организация Freedom House опубликовала доклад, в котором Россия была приравнена по уровню гражданских свобод к Северной Корее и Ливии.
"The initiative came as a result of the international org FH publishing a report in which Russia was equated in terms of Civil Liberties with NK and Libya."
Which is fine and great and wonderful, except that's not true. For the most recent rankings (which would be the most harsh on Russia since the Soviet regime) Russia received a 5 for civil liberties. NK and Libya received the lowest possible score of 7.

Our garden is a bit overgrown. Our neighbour's is like a trash heap. :PQuote:

Fuck them.
It appears to me that the protection of human rights is a very dirty business. I say business and I mean it. It's not just an occupation. When someone says something about human rights I ask just one question - Who pays him?
The consequences of human rights crusaders' activities in Russia can be felt even now so I think that this idea is rather funny. I don't think any real results will be produced but at least Russia will be able to use the same weapon against the West . Although nobody in Europe and USA will listen but still Russia could spread biased lies though the minds of people in Europe to counter-balance western human rights defenders' activities in Russia.
