Yeah, this is pretty common -- not just for Russia. Foreign companies are some times well-served by being seen as "new," "hip," or "unconnected" but also sometimes this is a problem -- there are already existing brands that have the people's loyalty or they just have good connections and networks. I think Coke, for instance, owns soda companies in Mexico and India, that don't necessarily carry their brands. Fanta is the Japanese variant -- which I think Coke owns (or at least has an agreement of some sort with).Originally Posted by detail
