I only got about half of that... but the point was that Russians have overdosed on talk about Nazis and civil war and are robotically repeating whatever they heard on Russian TV? And suddenly many people in Ukraine, such as you feel a bit alienated from friends and family in Russia, because of what's going on.

I think many of your comments (did not read all of those in Russian) were helpful in understanding what's going on. You single-handedly talked me out of a few things that I had picked up from Ru TV.

Obviously it for Russia this is a bit "emotional" too. It's a brother country and a place where many have friends and family. And Nazis / fascism killed millions in Russia, so everything taken into account - of course it's passionate for them too. Plus - so many countries are spitting on Russia - I guess they didn't expect it from Ukraine and it "hurt".

I think you should explain clearly for all English speaking visitors to the forum what you as a person in Eastern Ukraine would like to see happening. All the internal "sibling fights" with Russia are a bit hard to follow.

How could all this be resolved in a way that would be satisfactory or acceptable to you? And what do you think will happen in the election?

Ну, что я могу сказать.. Печально, что зомби поляризовались. В Торонто, допустим, картина обратная. Люди встречаются, звонят и сразу вопрос: "Ну, как вам истинное лицо России и Путина! Сейчас там у них в Крыму всех задавят! Крым ещё пожалеет и на коленях приползёт обратно! И правильно им там воду отключили, вообще всё надо отключить!" Любые попытки перевести разговор в обычное русло успеха не имеют. Никакие доводы разума тоже не действуют. Находятся товарищи, которые реально едут крышей. Например, вот такая реклама в газете:

К чести торонтовцев, настолько поехавших крышей немного, однако наличие сильной украинской диаспоры даёт о себе знать. Вот и бухгалтер мой вставил себе в подпись имаила "Слава Україні !" Наверное, к дождю..

Good point. What is going on with that, for goodness sake. This is not the 1980s. People should be allowed to watch whatever TV they want.

Or if they are serious, why not block all .ru domains for users in Ukraine....

Even the so called "last dictatorship in Europe" allows people to watch whatever TV they want.

Comment for the foreigners:

Motto "Слава Украине! Героям слава!" is a salute of Ukrainian Nazis during WW2, it's an analog of the famous "Heil Hitler!". So if you hear or see these words somewhere (like on the picture) you should always remember what it indeed means.

Yes, actually I did read about that. It was actually in the Swedish papers. They know that the Baltic states are a bit dodgy in how they treat the Russian minorities and it's covered from time to time. People can't help but notice that when they go to the market in Riga everyone around them speak Russian and get curious what's going on.

But there is a kind of "rasism" against Russians in the EU. Russian language, TV or people are ok to discriminate... or at least it doesn't upset anyone very much and they will think up reasons for why this is acceptable in Latvia. Because "Russian TV is just propaganda anyway", say people who don't know a word of Russian and could never determine for themselves! But they heard that on CNN, or it was in a Hollywood movie.

The Baltic Russians took this to Brussels to complain, but nothing came of it yet. They should just sue the Latvian state in the EU court, I think. It's completely illegal what the Baltic states are doing. They would win, if they were prepared to take the battle.

If any other country in the EU treated a minority like the Baltics treat Russians there would be an outrage. Lots of people are involved against supposed discrimination against gypsies for example, and it's constantly on TV. Romania and Bulgaria received billions from the EU to help the gypsies.

When I was in Latvia, I saw some Russian families with children who lived in an undescribable DUMP, some old military baracks - not renovated for 30 years. It's very, very upsetting. Russians are probably less popular in the EU than gypsies at the moment. Nobody cares if they are lied about, or mistreated.

I think Russia will have it's rematch in the future.
But the situation is extreme at the moment.

Прекрасный пример отношения наших либерастов к народонаселению. Как только у них совести после этого хватает называть себя демократами и защитниками свободы слова - ума не приложу.

По-моему, сей подзаголовок прекрасно дополняет эту тему.

Учи матчасть по правам и свободам. Когда они могут быть ограничены.

Такие вот либералы в России. Вообще, называются они так исключительно по традиции еще с царских времен, независимо от наличия настоящей идеологической ориентации.

Товарищ не знает значения слова "лактация", но считает, что имеет моральное и интеллектуальное право решать, кому к какой информации можно разрешать или ограничивать доступ.
Да, кстати, "лактация" - это процесс выделения молока у кормящих матерей.
