I found these three verbs in texts that I try to undestand. Those text are about Economics and Russian grammar. I really cannot understand their exact meaning in the statements. How would you use them if you give some exapmles? Best.

облагаться - Прибыль оБлагается налогом
определяться -мы поговорим, как определяется род имен существительных в русском языке
употребляться - Как и в других языках, некоторые скществительные употребляются только во множественном числе

определять - to determine, so определяться is to be determined
употреблять is to use or to consume (regarding food), so употребляться is to be used or to be consumed
облагать is a derivative of a verb класть (which is a correct imperfective of положить), which means to put, so when you say прибыль облагается налогом that really means that someone puts taxes on profits or taxes are put on profits

That income is taxable.

Also определять often corresponds to define.
Определяется = is defined.
