    Я посылаю письмо (I'm sending a letter)
Мне прислали письмо (A letter was sent to me)
Мой друг прислал мне письмо (A friend of mine sent me a letter)

Меня послали в Москву (I was sent to Moscow)
Меня к вам прислали, чтобы сделать что-нибудь (I was sent to do something or They've sent me to do something)

    Can you see the difference?

Generally when you describe the process of some departure, use послать (посылать), when something (or you) has arrived - you describe that with присылать (прислать).
Send me a PM if you need me.

    Thanks, that makes perfect sense.

I wish they would explain these things in textbooks
