I have noticed you can answer questions like this ->

У меня получился такой вариант:
Получилось, что...

And so on.

I can't find this meaning of получиться in a dictionary. What does it mean exactly?

"(We) have get (result), that..."
"... was get (as result)"
Also can act as "happened" for the result of action. "Получилось нехорошо." = "It happened in a bad way".

Получается, что ... is the result of mental arithmetic in someone's mind.
Similar to "I have made it out", "It turns out, that..."
Hastings or dr.Watson could pronounce "но тогда получается, что..." after Poirot/Holmes had made the explanations and they arranged new data in their heads, and started to understand something, and even started to do some deduction.
