I watched a video on Youtube where two boxers were fighting. At the end of the video the commentator says: Он проиграл по делу.

What does it mean 'по делу'?

по делу = заслуженно, справедливо

Not by chance, "he deserved it", "the opponent was better". Something like this. по делу is set phrase.
