    охренеть

    Я охренил - значит только, что я был удивлен когда я узнал что-то плохое?

    Technically, it's охренеть

    Я охренел

    As to what it means, it depends actually. One meaning would be suddenly getting very suprised/shocked in an unpleasant way, yes.

    Full version "Oхренеть можно от этого" - 'One can get astonished' is to pronounced when, for example, you see in your quiet seaside town something like

    Когда я слышал это слово первый раз, я думал, что оно было синоним словa: облажаться!

    There is second meaning "to be wrong". For example, if seller doubles price without reason (sneaky bastard) then "он охренел".
    If someone caused car crash but blames you when police had arrived = "да он вообще охренел".
    Note that this term means in these cases "to have unmoral/unprincipled state of mind, allowing to do wrong things".
    So, there is some link with first meaning "to be astonished". Like 'shocked state of soul'. Two different meanings with similar base in it's core.

    @Alex80

    I like your line of though there, but I never really thought of охренеть in those cases as someone being wrong. It's always felt to me most appropriate in "who the hell do you think you are" kind of sitatuations. When someone does something you think they don't have a right to do, often insolently so, then охренеть is a good word to use, if you don't mind a bit of mild cussing That's just where the "shocked" part comes in as well.

    I agree. This is why I wrote examples and explanations about 'state of soul'. Maybe I should use 'do wrong'. Anyway 'there is something wrong with this guy'.

    Тут уже как в анекдоте получается с двумя электриками в детском саду: "Вася, ты не прав...". Ну да ладно.

    Ну я не смог подобрать альтернативу к "be astonished" как "be ???" и сказал wrong, а потом пояснил что на деле имеется ввиду "обнаглел". Теперь вот наверное, когда по русски уже произнес, выходит что лучше было "be insolent" видимо.

    Sick! Cool!

    P.S. This is slang, close to rude.
