What's the imperfective form for the verb "обаять"? =))
Обаять.
обаял (masc.), обаяла (fem.), обаяли (plural).
Он обаял её своим терпением. - His patience charmed her. (Literally, He charmed her by his patience).
looks like dilemma. My dictionary says it's always perfective in Russian. Could you try "очаровать" instead? Or you really need this one?
They are coincide.
Он обаял ее немедленно и бесповоротно. Perfective.
Он обаял ее весь вечер. Imperfective.
"Обаять"?? What an ugly word! Seriously, does anyone use it? Dear RSL learners, try to stick to synonyms instead (очаровать, сразить обаянием, покорить, etc.)
"Он тебя обаял" sounds like he did something bad to me. Охаял меня, or something like that. :)
gRomoZeka, I don't think "обаять" is an improper word and it doesn't certainly imply sexual affection like your synonyms.
PS maybe you like "охмурить" ;)
Она: Ох он меня очаровал ивыобаял пару раз :)
Возможно, автору потребуется именно данное слово. Например, "Этот ребёнок очарователен. Он всех обаял своими манерами. И теперь все смотрят только на него".
The 1st sentence is imperfective. But the 2nd one is perfective, because it looks as if the word 'обаять' is always perfective. The 3rd one is again imperfective.
And I also found this:
В жизни, бывает, надо покорять и обаять не одних женщин, а, к сожалению, и начальство, которого у нас много. Анатолий Мариенгоф, «Мой век, мои друзья и подруги», 1956-1960 г.
покорять и обаять - both are clearly imperfective here.
