I see in my Dictionary that налево (направо) answers to куда, где. It says not to which adverbs answers слева (справа).
Is it correct to say that слева answers to откуда, где? From the examples it seems to be like this. Thanks.

Yes, for example "удар последовал (откуда?) слева" or "она стояла (где?) слева".Originally Posted by radomir

налево="на-лево"="to the left". E.g. Повернись налево.=Turn to the left.
cлева="с-лева"="from the left". E.g. Зайди слева.=Approach from the left-hand side.
"Россия для русских" - это неправильно. Остальные-то чем лучше?
Only to куда.Originally Posted by radomir

Неправда. Например:Originally Posted by E-learner

Thank you. However it was clear that налево could be used as an answer to где, куда, but где, куда were not interchangeable. Thank you for additional information.
This variant will be better "Поднимаетесь по лестнице к главному входу, слева находится дверь лаборатории". E-learner seems right, because I can't think out a sentence in which "налево" answers to "где?". Moreover, in my opinion, words "слева" and "налево" not interchangeable and phrases like this "налево от входа" are rustic style. "Налево" specifies a direction, "слева" specifies a position.Originally Posted by doninphxaz

I would still prefer "слева будет дверь лаборатории", but indeed people might say that.Originally Posted by doninphxaz
Still, to my mind, it's a kind of contraction from
"Поднимаетесь по лестнице к главному входу, смотрите налево и там находится дверь лаборатории."
Anyway, to use "налево" and such meaning "где" is a tricky business.
