How appropriate is it to say to a woman/girl/девушка "Привет малышь"

Does it sound like "Hey Babe" ?

Just that I'm gonna have a drink tonight with an ukrainian :P

Sounds very vulgar. And I doubt that "малыш" is appropriate (it is a masculine noun), maybe "детка" is more correct here. But then you will sound exactly like Beavis & Butthead in Russian translation

It's not vulgar, but it's very intimate. I wouldn't say "малыш" to a girl who is not my girlfriend.

"Детка" is not good either. "Детка" suggests your superiority. It may be OK between close frieds or g/f-b/f.

hahaha well I don't care.... She told me it was ok as long as you are a friend... just don't use it on your boss she told me. but she is ukrainian so maybe she is nuts

Frankly, I have seen australians saying "Hey Love", even though they were only friends. This is unrelated with the previous sentence
