    ... кроме вторника.

    In the following exercise you're required to find the closest sentence in meaning to the given one. The textbook's answer is (b). Can someone tell me why (a) is not a better option?

    - Всяий день меня радует, кроме вторника.

    a) Я могу радоваться в любой день, но не во вторник.

    b) Вторник - единственный день, когда мне не радостно.

    c) Я рад даже во вторник.

    d) Наиболее подходящий день для меня - вторник.

    e) Я грущу только во вторник.

    Without going into a big discussion, both seem equal. Bravo, you did some work before asking this time. Don't know your textbook but there seem to be some flaws.

    Becouse "Всякий день меня радует, кроме вторника" means "Every day makes me glad but Tuesday doesn't. The main meaning is "I'm glad (every day)"
    The (a) means "I can be glad...".
    The (b) - Tuesday is the only day when I am not glad - if so then the other days I'm glad. The meaning also is "I'm glad"

    I'm glad != (a)
    I'm glad = (b)

    a) indicates only a possibility of enjoying the days that are not Tuesdays, whereas b) is a positive statement rephrasing the sentence in question. Therefore, it's b).

    Looks more like a critical thinking question than a language test! The original question implies that the person is happy all days except Tuesday. Option (b) says exactly the same in a reverted way though (negation vs. a statement in the original). Option (a) implies a possibility of being happy hence a person may be or may not be happy those days which are not Tuesday. Correct is (b) but it needs some logical reasoning to answer that.
