    -то and -ко

    What do -то and -ко mean when suffixed to the end of a word?
    В лесу-то хорошо.

    it`s just a "parasite words", like "umm, in forest is good, I say", IMHO

    No. В лесу-то means in the forest. -Ка (-ко) is used for making imperative softer.

    i thought "в лесу-то" means "in some forest"....

    В лесу-то is not in "the" forest.
    It's just a parasitic suffix which makes no difference in meaning.

    One can say "в лесу-то" about an uncertain forest, a forest in general.

    It's just a parasitic suffix and to use it or not -- it's all up to your habits and your style of speaking.

    "частица "-то" после слов - это рудимент артикля "тъ/та/то". Он совпадает по форме с местоимением "тот/та/то" (в древнем варианте "тот" = "тъ"). Хотя "тот" по смыслу значит не то же, что "этот", но тем не менее "тот" и "этот" часто взаимозаменяемы, не только в русском языке, но и, например, в английском this-that. И по звучанию "тот" и "этот" похожи, что не случайно: ведь раньше "этот" назывался "сей". Благодаря этому частица "-то" совпадает по смыслу с определенным артиклем европейских языков"

    The suffix -то is used only in spoken common language. It DOES NOT mean "in some forest" or "in the forest". It's really difficult to describe why and where it is used, because of it doesn't apply any differences to the context.

    If I walked through a forest and heard "В лесу-то жарко" from my companion, I would understand it absolutely the same as "В лесу жарко".

    I suppose the suffix -то is used to fill the space between the noun and its verb. To make it easier to pronounce. To shrink the gap between them...
