Wonder which is the correct form to say 'at the airport'? Following grammar rules, I think it should be 'в аэропорте', but I've seen it written 'в аэропорту'.

Some words have two prepositional forms, one (with stressed -у) used with "в" and "на" and another one (unstressed -е) with other prepositions.Quote:

"Аэропорт" since it's derived from "порт" should use the same split prepositional, although I have heard and seen both variants.

The question which I gave you the link is about the "в отпуске/в отпуску", but the "в аэропорту/в аэропорте" problem is discussed in the middle of text :)
In short, they say that 40 years ago the correct variant was "в аэропорте", but people were so often making mistakes, that nowadays the correct form is "в аэропорту", and "в аэропорте" is considered obsolette.
Thanks SAn! Guess I missed that one out as the discussion was real long...
