I like a clean explanation of why I choose ot.

Possible explanation:
The word iz just indicates a movement from an interior place while ot is just use for (a) persons and (b) figurative expressions (as in the example)

Yes, что ты хочешь от моей жизни is correct, что ты хочешь из моей жизни would sound like жизнь is some kind of container, when it is not perceived like that. However, I suspect that there may be certain contexts when the "из" variant would be correct as well, but such is very rare, I think.

Anyway, you're safe to go with "что ты хочешь от моей жизни". It's just that it sounds a bit weird because we usually say "что ты хочешь от своей жизни" but it also has a different meaning.

What do you mean by this sentence? The only meaning I can imagine is: "my life is always just sh*t, did you expect it'd give me smth good this time? oh no, sh*t again... well, what [else] do you want [=expect] from my life?" (saying to a friend, for example).
Anyway, even in this case it should be "Что ТЫ хочешь от моей жизни?" (it doesn't sound fine without "ты").
