    Again, it sounds like "appeal" (although this word has a slight sense of formality). I just thought you said that 'просьба = please'

    "Запрос" is more like an official request one organization sends to another one, something like: "Please provide me the data for the last year...".

    My dictionary says it is "letter of inquiry".

    Another meaning of "запрос" (though it is related to the "letter of inquiry"), it can just mean "inquiry" in the context like "поисковый запрос в Google".

    So, generally it's "inquiry".
