Достойный, достоин, достойна...
Making exercises on short forms of adjectives I find достойный; достоин, достойна.... Surely some rule makes necessary this и in masc. and not a й like one could wait. And it would be of application in other cases. Please, which is it? Since in no book I see a reference to it.

Why do you expect the Й there? The E is what usually there.
Холодный - холоден холодна холодно
Свободный - свободен свободна свободно
Красный - красен красна красно
--------------------------
I underlined stresses there.
And think of достоин as of an exception.
Re: достойный; достоин, достойна, ...
Well, I see that the additional vowel is inserted just in the genre that needs it. I thought that once put in the masc. it should be kept in every genre. So in южный I see: южен, южнa: южно, южны. And here it should be: достой-ен, достойна, -о, -ы. Here putting together й-е finally it sould be достоен, bah, little irregularity. Thank you.

All of them are wrong. There are no such words.

достоин
Examples:
Он достоин этой награды.
But:
Он удостоен этой награды.

1) As for южный. I was just making an exercise with the first word that I thought. I see that it has no short form. But if it has....
2) As for достоин. I said that достоeн should be its regular form, being достоин a little irregularity. However always that I mention the word "irregularity" in conection with Russian grammar I say that are the regularities that one must find :search:
Thank you.
