Thread: how to refer to something especific?

How can I refer to "this" music or to "this" window, or to "this" man or "these"men? Is it with several variations of "это"?

this music - эта музыка
this window - это окно
this man - этот мужчина, этот человек
these men - эти (те) мужчины, эти (те) люди

Thank you both:

"Этот = "this" for nouns, which are male (i.e. фотоаппарат).
Эта = "this" for nouns, which are female (i.e. книга).
Это = "this" for nouns, which are neuter (i.e. окно) and in case "this is a...."

I now understand the gender but not the use: how to say
I like "this" and "that"...
as in
I like "this" music?

And were is the stress

You have to learn Russian cases:

I like this book/this house/this field/these trees - Я люблю эту книгу/этот дом/это поле/эти деревья=accusative case

I'm affraid, my knowledges are too plain to help you with the rest. There should be a sourse of Russian Grammar for you somewhere.

cactus, this topic must be explained in Chapter 1 or 2 of any first-year Russian grammar. I don't understand why you are asking these questions. Do you not have a textbook?

I guess I am a little frustrated seeing knowledgeable Russian speakers answering questions that you should be able to find in your grammar book. Look how sad you are making Оля!!!

aaaaa I wouldn't be reproaching. A little while has passed since I learned the difference between the fourteen and the fourty! I had to look in my dictionary just to write difference instead of differense.
