    You can't say: Us humans have done so many things
    If you took out "humans" it would read "us have done..." ERROR
    Always use the personal pronoun in its grammatical case, in this case nominal: We humans have done so many things.

    You CAN say: Things have happened to us humans, because "us" is the direct object. You CANNOT say: Things have happened to we humans.

    I think all those "it's ME", "US, humans" etc. came into English from French, where there are special forms (moi, tois) for such "stressed" meaning. So, while technically speaking they are not correct, they have some stylistical sense. In Russian there are no such things altogether.
