I'm a complete noob and stuck on RS russian software where it asks me to guess which one to use 'net' or 'ne' like "devoychka net/ne chitaiot" (sorry for the horrible spelling and lack of russian letters). What is the difference?

Most often "не" = not, "нет" = no.
Good luck in cracking Russian software! :D
And do not confuse both with "ni"! :roll:
"chitaiot" (="читает") is a verb (= "reads"), and using what it-ogo said (that "не" = "not") we get:Quote:
