Thread: Verbs on -ать not conjugated ―аю, ―аешь

Hello,

Most verbs with inf. on -ать have vocal stems: ―аю, ―аешь. Most one-syllable verbs are conjugated like that, the there are the verbs with consonant shift, like показать, but there are also some without consonant shift, e.g. сосать.
Does anyone have a complete list of ―ать verbs conjugated 'end consonant + у, ешь/ёшь, ...'?

-у, -ешь писАть чесать плясать плакать брехать...
-у/-ю, -ёшь сосать жать(1) жать(2) слать брать врать срать драть...
-у/-ю, -ишь спать бежать лежать кричать торчать ворчать брюзжать...

This is not complete list, just several verbs recalled first. Looks like there are very-very much such verbs. Perhaps much more than English irregular verbs. I am not sure such list exists.

There are hundreds of those verbs. Just make sure you have a good dictionary that lists forms when they deviate from the simplest pattern. In the meantime, perhaps this page will be of interest.
