Preposition 'а'
Hi everyone!
I wrote this sentence 'она часто думает а нём'. My friend said preposition a doesn´t exist and I should write 'о нем'. I asked her by email and I think she´s a little busy and will take a certain time to answer me, so I´d like to know why my sentence is wrong.
Thanks in advance!
* I made a mistake when I considered to write but instead of about. Now I got it! Thanks to all of you who helped me!

Hello!
I cannot suppose how you made this mistake, because letter *a* is disjunctive conjunction, not preposition. It's like "I am sleeping,*while* the dog eats my notebook."
The preposition is *o* for the sentence, it means *about*.
If you said this sentense aloud, nobody would notice a difference, because it sounds similarly.
I hope this explanation is not thoroughly too detailed, for I'm not ready to be "captain obvious". =D
Good luck!

Renataf, in what way would the "a" in your Russian sentence mean "but"? Probably your mistake lies in the fact that unstressed "o" frequently is pronounced like "a" in Russian, so it is fairly easy to make a mistake in writing.

Thanks a lot guys! I will change my question because I made a mistake. In the sentence is preposition 'about' and not 'but' as I wrote.
