can someone please tell me what "pokachenu" means ?

It's a kid's teaser for the question Почему (Why).

There's a difference between "почему?" (why?) and "по чему?" (on/along/through what):

Почему идёт человек? - Why (a) man walks (is walking)?
По чему идёт человек? - What (a) man walks (is walking) along/on?

so if someone asks "Почему", you may answer "По кочану" (it's a slang substitute for head):

- По чему? (on what)
- По кочану (on your head) (the meaning can vary from 'it's just the way it is' to 'I can't (don't want to) answer your question' and even to 'it's none of your business')


Кочан: head (капусты); loaf (капусты) (of a cabbage).

I always thought that "по качану" was just for a rhyme and had nothing to do with a caggabe or a head.

It's absolutrly irrelevant here whether "кочан" means a human head or head of cabbage. It's just a rhyme, don't look for a deep meaning.
