    позабуду?

I hear this in a song:

    Я тебя скоро не позабуду

why not just забуду??? One friend says only for rhyme. Is that the only difference?

Is usually referred to objects of affection. You cannot "позабыть" your watch.
I've got a TV, and I'm not afraid to use it

"Alright, brain, I don't like you and you don't like me, so let's just figure this out and I'll get back to killing you with beer."

first off you got the lyrics wrong, it's a Ляпес Трубецкой song far as I know, a Belorussian band from Minsk btw, and the words are
я тебя НЕ скоро позабуду - meaning that I'm going to remember you for a long time, word for word would be soemthing like I'm not forgetting you any time soon.

Позабыть - it can be used about things or appointments as well as people but it's rather rare it's an equivalent of the expression совсем забыть t.e. forget something completely so that you never remember about it. Come to think of it it's used in songs and poems more often than anywhere else as in позабуть свои печали, sort of like let go of them, break free from your sorrows don't let them haunt you anymore. In any case it's either dated or something because you won't hear it very often unless somebody should be quoting from this song. And in the song I think they used it fro rythm rather than rhyme cause he just repeats this line inthe chorus over and over again Я тебя не скоро позабуду Я тебя не скоро позабуду etc it also adds some emotion at the same time though.
